Netflix is bringing nine projects to the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and four of them are Korean titles or feature Korean stars. Here’s what to look out for:

Set in 1970, this thriller follows a group of people who devise a suspicious plan to land a hijacked plane at any cost. After making a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival, it became the first Korean film in seven years to join BIFF’s Gala Presentation lineup. Directed by Byun Sung Hyun of Kill Boksoon , the film stars Seol Kyung Gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryu Seung Bum.

Premiering in the “Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere” section, this sci-fi disaster blockbuster depicts humanity’s final fight for survival as a massive flood swallows the Earth. With Kim Byung Woo directing, the film features Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo battling to escape a sinking apartment complex.

As You Stood By

Part of the “On Screen” section , this Netflix series centers on two women trapped in a brutal reality where they must kill—or be killed. Their desperate choices lead them into unexpected, dangerous events. The cast includes Jeon So-nee, Lee Yoo Mi, Jang Seung Jo, and Lim Ju Hwan, with Lee Jung Lim directing.

Romantics Anonymous (Japan–Korea collaboration)

While technically a Japanese series, this sweet romance also stars Korean actress Han Hyo Joo alongside Oguri Shun. Directed by Shô Tsukikawa of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, it tells the story of two shy souls—one who fears touch, the other who struggles with eye contact—who slowly open up to love through chocolate.

Beyond these four titles, Netflix will also bring global projects like The Resurrected, Last Samurai Standing , Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and House of Dynamite to BIFF’s milestone 30th edition.
