Hopes for a dream collaboration were dashed Tuesday as BTS ‘s agency, Big Hit Music, officially denied rumors that the group was participating in a tribute album for Michael Jackson.

In a definitive statement posted to social media on August 5th, the agency firmly denied the rumors, saying, “The recent reports about BTS taking part in a Michael Jackson tribute album are not true.”

Big Hit Music further clarified that BTS had never visited Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland and confirmed that reports of their involvement are “not true.”

The speculation ignited on Monday after MJ Vibe, a prominent Michael Jackson fan community, reported that BTS had secretly recorded a track for an upcoming tribute project featuring unreleased songs by the pop legend. The news quickly went viral online, sparking massive excitement among both artists’ global fanbases before being officially refuted.

The agency also said it’s “taking steps to stop the spread of false information” and thanked fans for their continued support.

BTS may not be taking part in the Michael Jackson tribute, but the group is gearing up for a major return. Now that the members have completed their mandatory military service, they’re preparing for a full-group comeback slated for spring 2026. The group shared on Weverse last month that they’ll be heading to the United States to start full-scale production on new music and get ready for a massive world tour kicking off next year.
