BLACKPINK is making VMA history—this time with every member’s solo work in the running.
On August 6th, the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards unveiled this year’s nominees, and the Best K-pop category is stacked with BLACKPINK power. aespa’s “Whiplash,” Jennie’s “like JENNIE,” Jimin’s “Who,” Jisoo’s “earthquake,” Lisa’s “Born Again (featuring Doja Cat and Raye),” Stray Kids’ “Chk Chk Boom,” and Rosé’s “toxic till the end” will compete for the prize.

With each member scoring a solo nomination, BLACKPINK has pulled off a rare group feat.
Rosé’s year is especially massive—her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “APT” earned nods for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, and Best Visual Effects, among others. She now stands alongside the night’s top nominees: Lady Gaga (12), Bruno Mars (11), Kendrick Lamar (10), and Sabrina Carpenter (8).
Other K-pop acts on the ballot include KATSEYE’s “Touch” for MTV Push Performance of the Year.
The VMA news comes on the heels of BLACKPINK’s kickoff for their DEADLINE world tour, held July 5th and 6th at Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium. The tour marks the group’s first since re-signing with YG Entertainment for group activities, and their first global trek since BORN PINK two years ago. Stops include the U.S., Canada, France, Italy, Spain, the U.K., Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong.
BLACKPINK also dropped their pre-release single JUMP on July 11th, teasing what’s next for the group—both together and apart.
