BTS superstar Kim Tae Hyung, better known as V , took the mound at Dodger Stadium and left both fans and broadcasters in awe with his flawless ceremonial first pitch.

On August 25th (local time), V threw the opening pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds game in California. Demand was so high that the online ticketing system briefly crashed as fans rushed to secure seats for the game.

Dressed in a crisp white Dodgers jersey paired with jeans, V then stepped onto the mound to face Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto as BTS’ global hit “MIC Drop” boomed through the stadium and delivered a throw that sailed cleanly to the glove. The two exchanged a hug afterward, with V thanking the 27-year-old pitcher before returning to the dugout.

The first pitch that drew immediate praise from commentators. “That breaking ball was impressive—sign him to a contract right now,” one exclaimed during the broadcast. The Dodgers’ own account on X (formerly Twitter) posted: “Taehyung’s first pitch? Mic Drop” alongside photos of the singer on the mound.

Moments later, V returned to the field to shout out, “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” — a legendary catchphrase made famous by late Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully and synonymous with the franchise itself. The crowd erupted in cheers, showering the star with applause.

The star also met up with Shohei Ohtani inside the dugout, where the two shook hands, embraced, and posed for photos. Dodgers-released video showed Ohtani smiling as he told V it was a pleasure to meet him.

Afterward, V reflected on the moment: “I remember watching a Dodgers game here with my members when we first debuted. The memories came rushing back, and it made me so happy. If I get the chance again, I’d love to properly train and throw another first pitch,” he said, adding, “I’m deeply grateful for the incredible support from ARMY and the baseball fans.”

The star power at Dodger Stadium isn’t stopping there—soccer sensation Son Heung Min, who recently joined LAFC in Major League Soccer, is slated to throw out the first pitch at the Dodgers’ August 28th home game.
