ASTRO member and actor Cha Eun Woo was selected as the lead trainee at his Army training graduation, drawing attention with his commanding salute and powerful voice. Onlookers said the scene felt like “something straight out of a movie.”
According to attendees, on September 2nd, Cha Eun Woo took the podium at the Army Training Center in Nonsan, Chungnam, leading his fellow trainees with spirited chants as the company representative. The role of representative trainee is given to soldiers with exemplary conduct and top training performance.

Even before graduation, buzz had spread across online communities about Cha’s time during the training. One post joked how fellow trainees “all brought their dishes to Eun Woo when he was on dishwashing duty just to see his face.” Another noted, “Even with a shaved head, he’s so handsome you can’t look him in the eye.”
But the moment that melted fans’ hearts came after the official program. During family visitation time, Cha Eun Woo was spotted lighting up when reunited with his beloved dog Dongdong.

Dongdong, named by combining syllables from Cha Eun Woo’s real name Lee Dong Min and his younger brother Lee Dong Hwi, has long been considered a member of the family. Netizens quickly reacted: “Of course his dog is gorgeous too” and “She really looks like her owner—definitely family.”
Cha Eun Woo enlisted on July 28th, with fellow entertainers seeing him off. Having completed basic training, he will now serve as a military band member with the Ministry of National Defense Support Group starting September 4th. His discharge is scheduled for January 27th, 2027.
