Cha Eun Woo ’s last pictorial before enlisting in the military has been unveiled, capturing the idol-actor at his most striking.
On August 16th, Esquire Korea released behind-the-scenes footage of Cha’s final shoot, showing him sporting a variety of looks. Asked about the difference between celebrity Cha Eun Woo and the man Lee Dong Min (his birth name), he joked, “When I have hair and makeup done, I’m Cha Eun Woo. Without it, I’m just Lee Dong Min.”
Cha revealed that the mid-shoot haircut was actually his idea. “I thought it would be meaningful to leave behind my last photos in my 20s with short hair, especially since I had to cut it anyway. It’s not fully short yet, but I wanted that vibe for the shoot. Honestly, it still didn’t feel real—I just had fun with it. We filmed video too, though I can’t even imagine how it’ll look on camera. I’m still not used to it. It feels awkward,” he said.
Cha Eun Woo enlisted in active duty on July 28th, joining the Army’s 25th Recruit Training Center, 2nd Training Battalion, where he has been serving as a trainee squad leader. After completing basic training, he will continue his service in the Army band.
Just days before enlistment, on July 24th, Cha addressed fans via the platform fromm: “I’ve been doing well, meeting people I’m grateful for. I miss Aroha (ASTRO’s fandom) so I came here. Of course I’ll miss you a lot. It still doesn’t feel real.” He added reassurance: “But don’t be sad—my album, movie, and drama are all coming out. You’ll see me pop up and say, ‘Oh, there’s Eun Woo!’ I worked really hard to prepare all three. I’ll miss you, I’ll miss you so much. I love you, thank you.”
Cha Eun Woo will soon be seen in the Netflix series The Wonder Fools and in the upcoming feature film First Ride (literal title).
