SBS has unveiled the first table read for its new Friday-Saturday drama Would You Marry Me , a romantic comedy about two strangers who enter a sham marriage to win the ultimate prize: a luxury newlywed home.

The series follows Kim Woo Joo, the fourth-generation heir to Korea’s oldest bakery Myungsoondang, played by Choi Woo Shik . At the reading, Choi greeted the cast and crew warmly: “I hope we can finish filming happily all the way through. I’ll do my best.”

Opposite him is Jung So Min as Yoo Me Ri, a struggling designer who proposes the fake newlywed arrangement to secure the coveted house. “I hope we can wrap this project safely without anyone getting hurt,” Jung said.

Even at the table read, Choi and Jung embodied their characters’ dynamic as a “newlywed couple by contract.” Choi brought the charisma of a “bakery heir,” while Jung captured Me Ri’s precarious situation as a desperate bride-to-be. Their strategic partnership is expected to become the heart of the show.

Supporting roles include Bae Na Ra as department store executive Baek Sang Hyun, Shin Seul Ki as Woo Joo’s doctor and confidant Yoon Jin Kyung, Seo Bum June as Me Ri’s ex-fiancé (and namesake rival Kim Woo Joo), and more.

Producers praised the cast chemistry: “From the very first table read, Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min filled the room with both sweet romance and sharp comic timing. Their ‘90-day newlywed mission’ promises an irresistible mix of humor and heart.”

Would You Marry Me premieres this October on SBS.
