Episodes 1 through 4 trace Ah Jin’s brutal childhood, scarred by an abusive father, Baek Sun Gyu (Bae Soo Bin), and the murder of her mother Im Sun Ye (Lee Seo An). Hoping for peace after her father’s remarriage, she instead suffered again under her cruel stepmother, Hwang Ji Sun (Kim Yoo Mi)—her only comfort being stepbrother Yoon Jun Seo ( Kim Young Dae ), who quietly protected her.
