Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight has officially become the first Korean movie of 2026 to surpass its break-even point.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network, as of 9:30 AM on January 9th, the film exceeded a cumulative audience of 720,000. This milestone was achieved on December 17th day of its release.
Maintaining a steady box office momentum, the film is now racing toward the 800,000-viewer mark. It is credited with reviving the romance and melodrama genre in South Korean theaters, drawing comparisons to classic hits like Architecture 101 and On Your Wedding Day . With strong support, particularly from teenage audiences during the winter vacation season, the film is expected to continue its box office success throughout January.
Starring Shin Sia and Choo Young Woo, the film tells the poignant story of Seo Yoon, a girl who loses her memory every time she wakes up, and Jae-won, the boy who dedicates himself to filling her days with new memories.
The movie is currently screening in theaters nationwide.

If there’s one actor who barely caught his breath in 2025, it’s Choo Young Woo . Over the past year, he appeared in a run of buzzed-about dramas including The Tale of Lady Ok , The Trauma Code , Mercy for None , and Head Over Heels —and capped it all off with his feature film debut.
That debut came with the youth romance Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight , adapted from Ichijo Misaki’s bestselling novel, which has sold more than 1.3 million copies worldwide. Choo plays Jae Won, a high school boy stuck in a dull routine whose life shifts when he meets Seo Yoon, a girl who loses her memories every day due to anterograde amnesia.
The film’s gentle, nostalgic dating scenes have resonated with audiences, and Choo says the most carefully shot moment was the kiss scene. “We filmed on a cruise ship and basically shot through the night,” he shared. “We did five or six takes—maybe even ten.”
Talking about first love, Choo grew visibly shy. “There’s someone who immediately comes to mind,” he admitted. He recalled attending a competitive high school where students were ranked after entrance exams. “All 400 of us were sitting in the auditorium when the student who placed first overall was called up to the principal. Watching her walk onto the stage felt like slow motion. She was impressive—and then we ended up in the same class.”
She was an academic standout, he said, and because classes were divided by grades, he pushed himself harder just to keep up. “I wanted to close the gap,” he explained. Thankfully, it wasn’t just a crush. “We did date,” he said, though the relationship eventually ended when he moved to Seoul to pursue acting. “I heard she went to a prestigious university when I was about 20. I don’t know how she’s doing now.”
Looking ahead, Choo is currently filming director Ahn Pan Seok’s new drama Love Doctor (literal title) alongside Kim So Hyun, and is also reviewing a role in Long Vacation. “It’s my first time doing a full-on romance,” he said. “The characters are in their mid-30s. I think it’ll show a more grown-up kind of love.”
From youthful first love to mature romance, Choo Young Woo is clearly stepping into his next chapter.
