TV Chosun reported on September 2nd that a woman in her 50s has been arrested on charges of running illegal gambling dens. The woman, identified as Shin and known as Han So Hee’s mother, is accused of operating 12 illegal gambling halls in cities such as Ulsan and Wonju from 2021 until the end of last month, using so-called “front men” to run the operations.
According to the prosecution, customers at these gaming establishments accessed gambling sites where Shin was the head distributor, charging game money to gamble on games like baccarat.

At the time, Han So Hee issued a statement saying, “My parents divorced when I was around 5 years old, and my grandmother raised me. I moved to Ulsan to live with my mother when I entered high school, but even then, I continued living with my grandmother.”
She added, “Because I didn’t have much contact with my mother, I only learned about her debts after I turned 20. As my grandmother’s daughter and out of filial duty, I paid off my mother’s debts to the best of my ability before I debuted.”
