Psychiatrist and TV personality Yang Jae Woong , who is engaged to former EXID member Hani , is expected to be indicted in connection with a fatal incident at his clinic last year, according to reports from The Hankyoreh on August 28th.

Police in Gyeonggi Province are reportedly preparing to forward Yang and 10 other medical staff members to prosecutors. The group includes two attending physicians, two nurses, four nurse assistants, and two caregivers.

The case stems from May 2024, when a woman in her 30s died 17 days after being admitted to W Jin Clinic in Bucheon, where Yang serves as chief director. She had been receiving treatment for addiction to diet drugs containing narcotics. The cause of death was determined to be acute pseudo-obstruction of the intestines.

The victim’s family submitted CCTV footage allegedly showing medical staff restraining the woman despite her complaints of pain, arguing it was clear malpractice. Police say further evidence, including hospital security footage, audio recordings, and text messages, supports accusations of illegal confinement, falsification of medical records, and other violations of medical law. Authorities also cited potential charges of involuntary manslaughter under the Mental Health Welfare Act.

Investigators are expected to summon Yang for questioning this weekend and may seek an arrest warrant.

The singer-actress recently reemerged on the MBN variety show Dr. Oh’s Stay , candidly reflecting on the turmoil: “I don’t want to keep living while worrying about what others think. Going through all this, I’ve realized life doesn’t always go the way you plan.”
