Kim Jong Kook has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his wedding—and the reason why his mother quietly stepped away from the long-running SBS variety show My Little Old Boy .
On September 11th, a video was posted on Kim’s YouTube channel “Gym Jong Kook,” where the singer thanked fans for their congratulations. “Thank you for the warm wishes,” he said. “I was preparing so tightly that I had to step away for a while.” He added that he had filmed a special video to announce the marriage to friends. “Because of the decorations, we couldn’t play it at the wedding, so I’m sharing it here,” he explained.
Kim also addressed why his mother had not been appearing recently on My Little Old Boy . “We wanted to prepare the wedding quietly,” he said. “My wife wanted to keep things low-key, and I don’t like receiving too much attention either.”
The video also showed Kim sharing the marriage news with his friends. Seo Jang Hoon revealed he had already guessed, saying, “When your mother stopped appearing on My Little Old Boy and then bought a house, I figured something was up.” Yoo Jae Suk commented, “When you bought the house, I knew something was going on. Now I get it,” before congratulating the groom.
Also included was Song Ji Hyo ’s reaction, as she congratulated Kim Jong Kook with extra enthusiasm. When the clip made the rounds on social media, fans couldn’t help but notice she never asked who the bride was—leading some to playfully wonder if she already knew all along.
Kim Jong Kook tied the knot with his non-celebrity girlfriend on the 5th. The ceremony was strictly private, with only family and close friends in attendance. Longtime friend Yoo Jae Suk served as the wedding’s MC.
