New evidence presented in the ongoing legal battle between HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin suggests she pre-planned a public smear campaign to accuse HYBE’s other girl groups, LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT, of “chart manipulation.” Shockingly, HYBE’s side accused that Min Hee Jin’s plan to attack ILLIT was allegedly formulated before the group had even debuted.
The bombshell claims were made during a court hearing on September 11th for the lawsuit filed by HYBE to terminate Min’s shareholder agreement.
HYBE’s lawyers presented a document titled “Project 1945,” allegedly drafted under Min’s instruction in March 2024. HYBE’s Chief Legal Officer, Jung Jin Soo, testified that dates listed in the document’s “chart manipulation” section corresponded to LE SSERAFIM’s comeback and ILLIT’s debut. “It appears they intended to attack ILLIT with such a narrative even before their debut,” he stated.
Further evidence included minutes from a March 29th, 2024, meeting with NewJeans’ parents, where strategies for a “public opinion campaign” were discussed. The plan included action items like “searching for staff controversies,” finding proof of “NewJeans imitation,” and determining “how to leak information to reporters.”
On the same day as that meeting, Min Hee Jin allegedly sent instructions via KakaoTalk to her staff, saying, “ We’re preparing public opinion warfare,” and “Send response and unleash after the 11th.”
The news drew strong reactions from netizens, with many expressing sympathy for the other groups, particularly the rookie group ILLIT. “Just leave ILLIT alone…. I’m sick and tired of this,” wrote one user. Another added, “NewJeans was already top-tier when ILLIT debuted, and ILLIT was just rising. Don’t needlessly drag people into this.”
