HYBE has officially launched a new subsidiary in India. The company, HYBE India, was registered this month in Mumbai and will focus on discovering and developing local Indian talent for the global stage.
The move marks a significant expansion into the world’s most populous country, which also has a rapidly growing music market. India is the world’s second-largest music streaming market with 185 million users. K-pop’s popularity has also surged in the region, with music streaming for the genre increasing by an impressive 362% between 2018 and 2023.
The launch is part of HYBE’s “Multi-home, Multi-genre” global strategy, spearheaded by Chairman Bang Si Hyuk. The aim is to leverage HYBE’s successful K-pop training and production system to discover and develop world-class local artists in different countries.
HYBE India’s official mission is “WHERE VOICES OF INDIA BECOME GLOBAL STORIES.” To achieve this, the company plans to hold local auditions and establish a training system tailored to the Indian market. It will also support the activities of its existing roster of artists within the country.
HYBE India is the company’s fifth overseas headquarters, joining existing bases in Japan, the U.S., Latin America, and China.
