IU will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for her role in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines at the 7th Newsis Hallyu Expo held on August 28th at 3 PM at the Lotte Hotel Crystal Ballroom Hall in Seoul.
Lee Jun Hyuk and Lee Joo Bin will receive the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chairman’s Award. Lee Jun Hyuk gained acclaim for SBS TV’s Love Scout , while Lee Joo Bin found success with tvN’s Queen of Tears and the film The Roundup: Punishment .
P1Harmony and STAYC will receive the Seoul Metropolitan Council Chairman’s Award, with P1Harmony recognized for breaking personal sales records and charting on the Billboard 200, and STAYC honored for Billboard acclaim and their ongoing global tour.
Beatpella House and writer Lee Nak Jun will receive the Korea Creative Content Agency President’s Award, with Beatpella House leader Wing recognized for his viral hit “Dopamine” and Lee Nak Jun honored as the original author of Netflix’s global sensation The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call .
Choo Young Woo and KiiKii will receive the Seoul Tourism Foundation CEO’s Award, with Choo recognized for his breakout roles in JTBC’s The Tale of Lady Ok, Netflix’s The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call and Mercy for None , and KiiKii honored for their record-breaking debut and rookie brand reputation streak.
Hwang Ga Ram will receive the Hallyu Ballad Award for his chart-topping hit “I’m A Firefly,” while Rescene will receive the Hallyu Special Award for their breakout track “Love Attack.”
A new Global Netizen Award has been introduced, featuring three categories: OST, Next Icon and Trot Star. Final voting is underway on the Stardum app until midnight on the 18th. The winner, determined solely by fan votes, will go to the artist who secures the top spot.
The 2025 Hallyu Expo, themed “Soft Power, Hallyu Permeates,” will feature the new fan-voted Global Netizen Award, lectures on K-content by Park Cheon Hu and Lee Nak Jun, and performances by Beatpella House, Hwang Ga Ram, Rescene and award winners.
Launched in 2019 to promote Hallyu’s sustainability and global influence, the event is hosted by Newsis with government and cultural sponsorship and will be streamed live on YouTube.
