Jung So Min recently opened up about her family’s reactions to her performance in Love Next Door during an interview on October 8th, following the series finale. In the drama, Jung So Min plays the role of Baek Seok Ryu, delivering heart-fluttering chemistry with her co-star Jung Hae In, who plays Choi Seung Hyo. The on-screen friendship-turned-romance between the two sparked plenty of interest.
When asked how her family responded to the series, Jung So Min, who has a younger brother just like her character, revealed, “I didn’t talk to my brother about it at all, but I watched the episodes with my parents. It was a real special experience to watch with them after such a healing and happy filming process.”
She noted that her father, who is typically reserved, quietly supported her, adding, “He didn’t say much, but he made sure to tune in diligently. Watching his reactions was fun for me too.”
She continued, “She also said, ‘I wonder how many painful moments there are that you can’t tell me about, things happening in a world I don’t fully understand.’ Hearing that made my heart ache so much.”
When asked if she watched the more intimate scenes with her family, particularly a steamy bedroom scene with Jung Hae In, Jung So Min laughed, “Luckily, I didn’t watch that episode with them! I’m okay watching those kinds of scenes with my mom, but with my dad, it’s a little too awkward.”

Jung So Min has addressed the recent dating rumors surrounding her and Love Next Door co-star Jung Hae In , firmly denying any romance but adding that there’s no awkwardness between them despite the constant buzz.
In an interview on October 8th following the conclusion of Love Next Door , Jung So Min reflected on her partnership with Jung Hae In. “At first, I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to get close because I tend to be shy, but we quickly became comfortable,” she said. “What I appreciated the most was how much we exchanged ideas about our characters and the scenes. That level of trust and respect between actors is something I’m grateful for, and it made acting alongside him a lot of fun.”
Since the premiere, romance rumors have been swirling around them. Jung So Min stressed that they didn’t make things awkward between them, sharing, “I’ve always believed that having good on-screen chemistry with a co-star really enhances the flow of the story and creates the synergy, so I always try to make that happen.” She went on, “This time, people seemed to respond to our chemistry well, and I’m thankful for that. The dating rumors didn’t make things awkward at all. It’s just something that comes with the territory when you’re working hard to bring a love story to life.”
In Love Next Door , their characters, Seung Hyo and Seok Ryu, are lifelong friends who take their relationship beyond friendship and eventually promise to marry. When asked if she believes such relationships can work in real life, Jung So Min said, “I think it’s possible. A friendship like Seung Hyo and Seok Ryu’s, where you’ve been inseparable since childhood, isn’t common. It’s quite special. It’s rare to see someone’s life so closely for such a long time, and that’s what makes it so precious.”
