Jung Yu Mi recently shared her thoughts about her first love during her appearance on a YouTube channel titled channel fullmoon.
During the interview, producer Na Young Seok posed a thought-provoking question to Jung: “How would you respond if you met again with your high school first love, just like in a drama?” This inquiry seemed especially relevant, given that Jung currently stars in the popular tvN series Love Your Enemy , which features her character reconnecting with her first love after an emotionally difficult breakup that has lasted for 18 years.
Jung Yu Mi explained how her views on love and separations have changed over time. “About ten years ago, I received a similar question,” she chuckled. “At that time, I jokingly said I’d want to flick him on the forehead out of annoyance.” However, her sentiments have matured. “Now, I hope he’s doing well after all these years. He’s likely settled down by now.” Na Young Seok concurred, suggesting that as time goes on, painful recollections fade while the positive ones often endure.
Jung Yu Mi also shared a candid moment from her first relationship, revealing her unexpected vulnerability during that time. “I’m not sure if I should reveal this, but when I broke up with my first boyfriend, I discovered something about myself I hadn’t realized before,” she confessed. “I thought I’d be a bit wild in those situations, but instead, I found myself in tears, clinging to him, begging, ‘Don’t hang up, don’t hang up.’ When the call was over, I just cried, feeling utterly drained.”
In an unexpected turn, Jung revealed that her next role after this experience was in the movie Blossom Again . “I suppose the emotional struggle showed clearly on my face,” she reflected. “The character I portrayed was also dealing with the aftermath of a first love.” Producer Na Young Seok jokingly commented, “It appears you didn’t have to act much for that part.” Jung Yu Mi laughed in response, admitting, “I wasn’t aware I had that sensitive side within me.”
