JYP Entertainment’s American girl group VCHA has been renamed GIRLSET and will now move forward as a four-member group following the departures of members KG Crown and Kaylee Lee.
KG’s departure follows the settlement of a lawsuit she filed last year against the company’s U.S. branch, JYP USA, alleging child abuse.
JYP and KG released a joint statement confirming the end of their professional relationship on August 8th. “JYP America and KG Crown have amicably and mutually agreed to terminate her existing contract as a member of VCHA,” the statement read. “They have also agreed to support each other’s futures.”
The agreement was reached during a court-ordered mediation in California. As part of the settlement, KG has withdrawn her lawsuit.
The legal battle began last May when KG sued JYP USA, accusing the company of promoting eating disorders and creating an environment that led members to self-harm. Her suit also criticized the K-pop industry’s payment and contract structures.
JYP USA denied the allegations, calling them “a one-sided public statement containing false and exaggerated claims.”
With the legal dispute resolved, the newly named GIRLSET will now promote as a four-member group including Lexus, Camila, Kendall and Savanna.
