Kang Tae Oh and Kim Se Jeong have been confirmed as the leads in MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama The Moon Flows in the River (literal title), a fantasy romance set in the Joseon dynasty.

The story follows a crown prince who has lost his laughter and a peddler who has lost her memory—two souls who suddenly find themselves swapped.

Kang Tae Oh will play Crown Prince Yi Kang, a man who appears reckless and indulgent but hides deep emotional wounds after losing a loved one to palace power struggles. Kim Se Jeong takes on the role of Park Dal Yi, a merchant who lives a carefree life despite missing pieces of her past, armed with wit and a silver tongue.

The drama’s central romance unfolds as these two from completely different worlds clash, banter, and slowly grow closer.

The supporting cast includes Lee Shin Young as Yi Kang’s cousin Prince Je Woon, Hong Su Zu as the ambitious Kim Woo Hee, and Jin Goo as Kim Han Cheol, a power broker wielding near-absolute authority.

Producers praised the ensemble chemistry, noting, “From the first table read, the actors showed strong synergy. Their diverse energies will bring a rich story to the screen.”

The Moon Flows in the River premieres October 31st at 9:50 PM KST on MBC.
