Kim Jong Kook has announced his marriage. He shared the surprising news himself in a heartfelt letter posted to his official fan site on Monday morning.
“I’m getting married,” he began, acknowledging that the news might be sudden for his followers. “I did try to subtly hint at it, but I’m sure many of you will still be surprised.”
Kim Jong Kook explained that the wedding will be a small, private ceremony held “in the near future” with only family and close friends attending. He also expressed deep gratitude for his fans, whose support he said gave him the courage to take this step.
“It’s very late in life, but isn’t it a relief that I’m finally doing this?” he wrote. “Thanks to all my fans who have been such a great source of strength for so long, I am now able to get married and start a new chapter in my life. I promise to be an even more diligent and hardworking Kim Jong Kook.”

Hello. This is Kim Jong Kook. I’ve always mentally prepared myself for the day I’d write a post like this, but now that I’m actually doing it, I’m more nervous and shaky than I ever imagined. I wanted to be the first to tell my fans, who have always believed in me, supported me, and stood by me as a person for so long. I’m getting married. I did try to subtly hint at it, but I’m sure this will still feel sudden for many of you. This year is my 30th anniversary since my debut, and instead of making the album I’d planned, I ended up finding my other half. Still, I hope you’ll congratulate and support me. It’s very late, but isn’t it a relief that I’m finally doing this? Right? I will do my best to live a happy life. The wedding will be a quiet event in the near future, kept as small as possible with only family, relatives, and a few close friends. Thanks to all of you, my fans, who have been a huge source of strength for so long, I am now able to get married and embark on this new challenge in life. I will strive to be an even more diligent and hardworking Kim Jong Kook. Thank you.
