Kim Soo Hyun is scheduled for his first court hearing today, August 20th, at the Suwon District Court.

The hearing is the first of six lawsuits filed against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist, by companies seeking damages following the controversy involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

The total amount claimed from the six companies has now reached 10.3 billion won ($7.6 million). This includes 850 million won from Cuckoo Electronics; a combined 2,029,863,013 won from Cuckoo Electronics, Cuckoo Homesys, and Cuckoo International Berhad (Cuckoo Homesys Malaysia subsidiary); 500.1 million won from Trendmaker; 3.96 billion won from FromBIO; and 3 billion won from Classys. These sums, some categorized as ‘unjust enrichment,’ were claimed from Kim Soo Hyun and Gold Medalist.

As reported earlier, a temporary freeze has been placed on some of Kim Soo Hyun’s assets. Court documents confirm that a provisional seizure of 5.5 billion won ($4 million) has been placed on one of his high-end apartments. An additional 400 million won ($300,000) has also been frozen across his personal bank accounts and other funds.

Amid speculation that he was securing cash for the legal battle, Kim Soo Hyun sold one of his three luxury apartments on June 27th for 8 billion won ($5.9 million). However, his agency, Gold Medalist, clarified that the sale was a pre-planned transaction and not a distressed sale in response to the legal pressure.

The apartment he sold was a 1,800-square-foot unit he purchased 11 years ago. Kim Soo Hyun still owns two other apartments with an estimated combined market value of over 20 billion won ($15 million).
