The legal team representing Kim Soo Hyun has presented new evidence — a journal he kept during his military service — which they claim proves he was not in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor.
This is the latest development in the high-profile legal battle between the actor and the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute.
On September 30th, Kim’s lawyer stated that he had reviewed the diary from the actor’s time in the military. He claimed it revealed a stark contrast between the affectionate letters Kim wrote to his then-girlfriend, which included phrases like “I love you,” and the more platonic correspondence he exchanged with the late Kim Sae Ron, which focused on topics such as “the weather and military life.”

The lawyer argued that the platonic letters were taken out of context, making them seem like love letters from a dating relationship when they weren’t. He emphasized that the two had no romantic involvement at the time.

The controversy began when Garo Sero Institute repeatedly claimed that Kim Soo Hyun was in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor, releasing photos from his private life as alleged evidence.
The situation escalated when Garo Sero Institute, alongside a lawyer representing Kim Sae Ron’s family, held a press conference and released an audio recording they claimed was the late actress discussing the relationship. Kim Soo Hyun’s team responded that the recording was AI-generated and has submitted it to the National Forensic Service for analysis. The results are still pending.
Kim Soo Hyun has already obtained a restraining order against Garo Sero Institute for stalking and has filed a defamation lawsuit against the channel. The legal battle continues to intensify as both sides present conflicting evidence.
