Kim Woo Bin ’s reputation as one of Korea’s most down-to-earth stars just got another boost.
On September 14th, a fan revealed on social media that the actor had secretly covered the dinner bill for a group of fans attending his signing event. According to the fan, they mentioned to the actor while getting his autograph that the group of them pooled money into a shared account to eat together after the event.
Later, through another fan’s conversation, Kim learned the name of the restaurant. He personally went to the venue ahead of time, ordered a pricier menu than the fans had originally booked, and settled the bill in advance. He even considered adding wine to the order, but, mindful of differing tastes, left his manager’s business card with the staff and promised to cover the cost by transfer if the fans wanted it.
The story quickly spread online, adding to Kim’s long list of good deeds. Together with his longtime partner Shin Mina, the actor has been noted for ongoing charitable donations. Recently, he quietly sent a floral tribute to the funeral of Song Gil Yong, a father who had searched for his missing daughter for 25 years before passing away. In fact, after his appearance on tvN’s talk show You Quiz on the Block, former staff who had worked with him praised him as “the best-mannered actor.”
