Netflix has officially announced production for its upcoming romantic comedy series Take Charge of My Heart , with Kim Young Kwang and Chae Soo Bin confirmed in the lead roles.

This new “electrifying” rom-com tells the love story between a man with an artificial heart that’s losing power—and a woman with mysterious electrical abilities.

The series, directed by Drunk in City Women 2 helmer Park Soo Won, is based on the popular Naver web novel of the same name. Screenwriter Song Yoo Chae, a fresh new voice, will bring the buzz-worthy story to life.

Kim Young Kwang returns to romantic comedy as Baek Ho Rang, the charismatic third-generation heir of Korea’s top conglomerate, who also heads the group’s luxury resort business. While he seems like the perfect successor—with brains, drive, and charm—he’s hiding a critical weakness: an artificial heart that’s about to shut down. During a fierce battle over corporate succession, he meets Na Bo Bae, a woman who may be the only one capable of “recharging” his failing heart, leading to an off-the-books contract that turns both their lives upside down.

Chae Soo Bin stars as Na Bo Bae, a drama writer racing to finish her next romance script before her contract ends. After being struck by lightning as a child, she’s been living with electricity running through her body—making physical touch a literal shock. That is, until she meets Baek Ho Rang, the one person she doesn’t short-circuit on contact. For the first time, her lifelong “power outage” in love might just get a spark.

Ready to recharge the hearts of K-romance fans around the globe, Take Charge of My Heart will be released exclusively on Netflix.
