The fantasy action blockbuster Omniscient Reader: The Prophet just dropped the first character still of Lee Min Ho as the novel’s iconic protagonist, Yoo Joong Hyuk.

Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is a fantasy action film where the fictional world of a novel that was serialized for over 10 years becomes reality on the day the story concludes, and Kim Dok Ja, the sole reader, must survive in the ruined world alongside the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joong Hyuk and their allies.

Lee Min Ho steps into the role of Yoo Joong Hyuk, a character as irreplaceable as he is unstoppable. The lead of the in-universe novel “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World,” Yoo is a “regressor,” doomed to return to the beginning each time he dies. With unrivaled strength and cold resolve, he clears scenario after scenario with merciless precision. From the moment he appears, Lee Min Ho commands the screen with a chilling presence and razor-sharp gazes.

All the regressions have filled him with cynicism, but on Dongho Bridge, he encounters Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who creates situations different from what he knew. Kim Dok Ja, who has admired Yoo for over ten years as a devoted reader, reaches out a hand. But Yoo, jaded and wary, puts him through a series of trials, unable to trust so easily. How their relationship will evolve—and what kind of ending they can carve out in this devastated world—has already become one of the film’s most anticipated storylines.

Lee Min Ho shared, “I spent a lot of time thinking about what it means to be someone who survives alone in an immortal life. Because the character is always in combat, I put a lot of effort into the action scenes as well.” He added, “I had to bring the world to life through Yoo Joonghyuk—and he had to feel real for Dokja and his crew’s survival journey to be convincing.”

He continued to show his affection for his role: “I thought hard about how to make every movement—his gaze, his expressions—feel authentic but not overdone.”

Character stills of Ahn Hyo Seop as Kim Dok Ja were also released. “I wanted Kim Dok Ja to be someone ordinary, someone everyone can relate to. And through him, I wanted to portray everyone growing together.” He added, “Since character setup was the most crucial part, I spent a lot of time studying the role, including talking to the director. I also trained continuously for the action sequences.”

Omniscient Reader: The Prophet hits theaters nationwide this July.
