Lee Si Young has become pregnant with her ex-husband’s child following their divorce. However, she did not obtain her ex-husband’s consent for the pregnancy. In response, her ex-husband released a statement saying he will fulfill his responsibilities as a father.
Speaking with Dispatch on July 8th, Lee Si Young’s ex-husband revealed, “We went through IVF five years ago to try for a second child, but later divorced due to personality differences.”
According to the ex-husband, he did not agree to move forward with the pregnancy after their separation. However, Lee went ahead with the embryo implantation on her own, using a previously frozen embryo from the IVF procedure.
“I didn’t consent to the pregnancy,” he said. “But now that the baby is on the way, I plan to step up and take full responsibility as the father. I’ll be involved in whatever’s needed, pregnancy, birth, parenting, and will work things out with her.”
He also shared that even after their split, the two have remained in close contact over raising their son. “It’ll be the same with the second child. We’ll both do our best as parents.”
Earlier that day, Lee took to Instagram to share the news: “I’m currently pregnant.” She explained that as her relationship with her ex-husband was ending, the five-year storage period for their frozen embryos was nearing its expiration. Faced with the possibility of discarding them, she made a decision.
