Lee Si Young made a generous 100 million won ($74,000) donation to an association supporting single-parent families in Korea.
The actress, who has supported the cause for years, announced on September 26th that she is now launching a new personal project to create “beautiful homes” for families in need.
“I wanted to provide a different kind of support this year,” she wrote on social media alongside photos from a donation ceremony. “Once I started, I realized there are many families in need… and it made me want to do even more.” She then put out a call for help from interior design and furniture companies and encouraged families in need of assistance to reach out.
Her donation and new project come at a pivotal and complex time in her own personal life. Lee Si Young, who married businessman Jo Seung Hyun in 2017, announced earlier this year that the couple was separating after eight years of marriage.
She later shared that she chose to implant a frozen embryo from a past IVF procedure during her divorce proceedings and is now pregnant with her second child with her now ex-husband.
