Lee Soo Hyuk ‘s long-awaited fan meeting in China has sparked controversy after reports surfaced of the actor being pushed to extreme limits.
The event, held on August 30th in Hangzhou, was a sold-out success, drawing thousands of fans. But according to Taiwanese outlet EBC, organizers oversold tickets, leaving Lee to sign autographs for nearly 12 hours. To make matters worse, the venue’s air conditioning reportedly broke down, forcing the actor to continue the schedule drenched in sweat. Witnesses said he appeared unsteady as he left the venue, fueling concern among fans who accused organizers of exploiting him.
Outrage quickly spread online, with fans demanding accountability. Many pointed to the excessive demands placed on the actor and called for his agency to take stronger action.

On September 3rd, Saram Entertainment issued an official apology: “First, we are deeply grateful to all the fans who showed such interest in ‘Lee Soo Hyuk 1st Fanmeeting in Hangzhou.’ We sincerely regret the unforeseen circumstances that occurred during the event and will do our best to move forward in a better direction.”
Saram Entertainment emphasized: “Above all, we hope that the efforts of the artist, who did his best under the circumstances, and the love of fans who stood by him will not lose their meaning. We hope this long-awaited reunion—his first in ten years—remains a cherished memory for everyone. Our company will use this experience to strengthen cooperation with organizers and ensure better conditions moving forward.”
But the wording of the statement only added fuel to the fire. Some fans bristled at the agency’s decision to thank the organizers rather than directly call out the mishandling of the event, arguing that the response downplayed the severity of Lee’s treatment.
