Lee Sung Kyung and Chae Jong Hyeop have been confirmed as the leads for the new MBC romance drama, In Your Brilliant Season (literal translation).
The series is set to air in the first half of next year and tells the story of two people with opposite personalities finding their way to each other.
The drama centers on the relationship between Chan (Chae Jong Hyeop), a man who lives every day like a thrilling summer vacation, and Ran (Lee Sung Kyung), a woman who is emotionally frozen and has trapped herself in a perpetual winter.
Lee Sung Kyung plays Song Ha Ran, a chief designer at a high-end fashion house who appears flawless but is hiding deep pain from losing loved ones. A chance encounter with Chan begins to shake up her carefully controlled world. Chae Jong Hyeop plays Seon Woo Chan, a cheerful character designer at a global animation studio who is secretly dealing with a wound from a past accident.
The project comes from a celebrated creative team, pairing writer Jo Sung Hee of She Was Pretty with director Jung Sang Hee of Wonderful World.
“Lee Sung Kyung and Chae Jong Hyeop are the perfect actors to bring these characters to life,” the production team stated. “We ask for much anticipation to see if these two can become the spring that melts each other’s winter, and how the unfolding mystery and their emotional journey will deliver a ‘brilliant’ experience for viewers.”
In Your Brilliant Season has completed its preliminary preparations and is now heading into production.
