Park Tae Joon, the creator of the globally popular webtoon Lookism, has divorced his wife, former girl group member Choi Soo Jung. A Korean media outlet reported on August 28th that the couple, who married in 2020 after a decade of dating, finalized their divorce last year.
The separation has reportedly become contentious, with sources claiming the two are now in a legal battle over the division of assets.
Park Tae Joon, who first gained fame as a cast member on the reality show Ulzzang Generation, has amassed significant wealth from the massive success of Lookism. He founded his own company, The Grimm Entertainment, which reported annual sales of 30 billion won ($22 million USD) in 2022. His personal assets, including three buildings, are estimated to be worth hundreds of billions of won ($100 million USD).
The divorce marks a sad end to a long-term relationship. When announcing their marriage on the talk show Radio Star , Park had expressed his deep affection for his wife, saying, “We dated and lived together for 10 years. It feels like living with a friend. We are best friends.”
Choi Soo Jung debuted in 2010 with the Korean-Chinese girl group Lotte Girls before transitioning to acting. In 2019, she gained attention after appearing as a close friend of MAMAMOO’s Hwasa on the popular reality show, I Live Alone .
