Na Hong Jin is back—and he’s bringing an ambitious new vision with him.
The acclaimed director unveiled the first teaser poster for his upcoming feature Hope , slated to hit theaters in summer 2026.
Unlike traditional key art, the teaser poster is a direct still from the film itself—capturing a breathtaking moment of a rider on horseback reaching out to save a young man from aliens in the depths of a dense forest. Shot on location at Romania’s Retezat National Park, the sequence required a seamless blend of horse, stunt wires, and camera choreography. To pull off the scene, the cast and crew trained in Korea for five months, ran three months of tests, and spent two months acclimating on site before filming.
Veteran cinematographer Hong Kyung Pyo emphasized natural light, relying on 120-frame high-speed shooting under tricky conditions. Despite the challenge, the team nailed the perfect timing in just half a day of shooting, delivering a raw, kinetic image that embodies Hope ’s daring action style.

The film has already attracted global attention for its star-studded ensemble. Hwang Jung Min plays Bum Seok, a proud yet responsible harbor outpost chief; Jo In Sung appears as Sung Ki, a local youth who spends his days hunting and fishing; and Jung Ho Yeon portrays Sung Ae, a no-nonsense police officer in the harbor town. Joining them are Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton as alien characters.
Set in a village near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, Hope begins when word spreads of a tiger sighting—only for the townspeople to face an even more unthinkable threat. Known for redefining Korean cinema with each project, Na promises another bold experience with Hope , which is now in post-production and targeting a summer 2026 theatrical rollout.
