The highly anticipated fantasy action film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet just dropped new character stills, spotlighting an ensemble of scene-stealing talent including Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana, Jisoo and child actor Kwon Eun Seong.

The film follows the story of a novel that becomes reality on the day its decade-long serialization concludes. Kim Dok Ja, the story’s sole reader, must survive in this apocalyptic world alongside the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joong Hyuk and others in this fantasy action adventure.

Chae Soo Bin takes on the role of Yoo Sang Ah, Kim Dok Ja’s coworker who finds herself caught in this terrifying new reality. “Among all the diverse characters, she makes the most realistic judgments, but I worked to balance that so she wouldn’t come across as unlikable. Sang Ah has this appealing quality of being someone who helps others step up,” she shared, revealing her deep affection for the character.

Shin Seung Ho plays Lee Hyun Sung, a soldier whose brute strength and unshakable defense often become key to surviving tight situations. “This was a project I’d been looking forward to seeing come to life as a film,” he said. “Hyun Sung is a pure adrenaline character.”

Nana makes her return to the big screen as Jung Hee Won, a woman who is saved by Dok Ja and chooses to fight for justice. “I loved seeing ordinary people come together to save the world,” Nana shared. “Hee Won is quick and stylish in combat. I pushed myself with some of the more difficult stunts—especially the wire work, which was exhilarating. I wanted every sequence to land with impact.”

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo stars as Lee Ji Hye, a sharp-witted high schooler who reveres Yoo Joong Hyuk as her master. “I wanted to portray a character with sharp judgment who adapts well to constantly changing situations and quickly grasps reality,” Jisoo explained. Although many of her scenes were filmed solo, she embraced the challenge, focusing on bringing her character to life.

Kwon Eun Seong rounds out the cast as Lee Gil Young, a boy who bonds with insects and becomes the adorable mascot of the group. “Gil Young’s biggest charm is that he’s both cute and incredibly bold,” the young actor said with a smile.

Omniscient Reader follows the story of Kim Dok Ja, the sole reader of a web novel that has been serialized for over 10 years. In the trailer, Kim Dok Ja, an ordinary office worker, encounters the shocking moment when the fictional world becomes a reality during his subway commute home. When an announcement declares, “The paid service begins as of the current time,” he immediately realizes, “That’s exactly how the novel started!” Chaos ensues when a goblin suddenly appears announcing, “All humans will be assigned scenarios. Kill at least one living thing.”

The ordinary world vanishes, replaced by a completely different reality where killing is necessary for survival. Omniscient Reader will hit theaters nationwide this July.
