Nana , a member of the iconic K-pop group After School, has hit a snag with her long-awaited solo debut. Her new album’s title track, “GOD,” has been deemed “unsuitable for broadcast” by the national public broadcaster, KBS. The song has now been banned from their TV and radio channels.
According to the review results announced on September 24th, KBS cited “profanity, slang, and vulgar expressions” in the song’s lyrics as the reason for the ban.
The song is the title track from Nana’s first solo album, Seventh Heaven 16, which was released on September 14th. The album is described as a candid expression of her inner self, going beyond her glamorous stage persona, with “GOD” reportedly exploring themes of faith and questioning existence.
In South Korea, artists must submit their songs to major networks like KBS for review before they can be promoted on their programs. The ban is a significant promotional hurdle for a new release. Nana has the option to revise the lyrics and resubmit the song for re-evaluation.

The setback comes as Nana launches a new chapter in her career. After debuting 16 years ago with After School and finding further success with the sub-unit Orange Caramel and as an actress, this is her first official solo album.
