NewJeans will appeal the October 30th court ruling that binds them to their agency, ADOR.

Earlier that day, the Seoul Central District Court sided with ADOR in a lawsuit to confirm the contract’s validity. The court stated, “It is difficult to view the defendants (NewJeans) as engaging in entertainment activities with the plaintiff (ADOR) against their free will.” The judge concluded that “the exclusive contract remains valid, and ADOR is deemed to hold the status of a management company for NewJeans.”

This verdict means that members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein are legally bound to ADOR until their contract expires on July 31st, 2029.

Following the ruling, the members’ legal representatives released an official statement. The statement emphasized that while the group respects the court’s decision, they maintain that it is impossible to return to ADOR because the trust between them and the agency has been completely shattered.

The law firm confirmed that the members plan to immediately appeal the first-instance ruling and hope that the appellate court will thoroughly review the facts and deliver a fair decision. They also expressed their gratitude to the fans who have been waiting for them.
