On June 24, a post titled “I bought this to use at the NewJeans concert” was uploaded to an online community. The post included a photo of a knife and the caption, “I’m going to use it when they get out of the van.” The photo is said to have been taken from the internet.

NewJeans fans and netizens immediately called for the post to be reported to the police. One netizen posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Please report this threat against NewJeans.”
Other netizens emailed the post to NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, and the media. Another fan sent a direct message to ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin’s personal social media account, saying, “Someone just threatened to attack the girls with a knife at the concert. Urgent action needed to ensure their safety.” The fan then captured a screenshot of the message and uploaded it. According to the post, Min Hee Jin replied, “Thank you.”
Earlier this month, ADOR issued a statement addressing online hate and fake news about NewJeans.
The agency also acknowledged the recent rise in violent anonymous posts targeting NewJeans. “We are aware of the increase in malicious posts with a high level of violence against NewJeans using anonymity,” ADOR stated. “We will use all available means to track down and take legal action against anonymous community site posts that are usually difficult to identify.”
