TVING is serving up its newest original series Military Cook Becomes a Legend (literal title). Park Ji Hoon, Yoon Kyung Ho, Han Dong Hee, and Lee Hong Nae have officially joined the lineup, setting the stage for a one-of-a-kind military comedy.
Slated for a 2026 premiere, Military Cook Becomes a Legend swaps guns for kitchen knives and ammo belts for aprons. The story follows a mess cook who stumbles upon a life-changing quest screen and ends up becoming a military legend.
Based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name, the series is inspired by the real-life experiences of author Choi Ryong, who previously served as a mess cook himself. With director Cho Nam Hyeong at the helm, the series promises both heartfelt laughs and unexpected emotional depth.
Park Ji Hoon plays Kang Sung Jae, a brand-new private who’s just been transferred to Gangrim Outpost. Once a top recruit, he falls from grace and, after hearing a strange voice, accepts a mysterious quest to become “military chef.”
Yoon Kyung Ho takes on the role of First Sergeant Park Jae Young, the supply officer of Sung Jae’s unit. Known for his thick accent and chaotic track record, he’s nicknamed “walking time bomb.” Constantly failing promotions, he’s now stuck as a career first sergeant—and the arrival of a problematic rookie only adds to his headaches.
Han Dong Hee stars as First Lieutenant Jo Ye Rin, the commanding officer of Gangrim Outpost. A fiercely just woman who came up through the ROTC—unlike her elite Military Academy peers—Ye Rin was assigned to the quiet post for undisclosed reasons. But when a wild new recruit shows up, her peaceful days quickly spiral into mayhem.
Lee Hong Nae transforms into Sergeant Yoon Dong Hyun, Sung Jae’s senior in the mess hall. With only 100 days left before discharge, he’s trying to lay low—but his strange new junior threatens to throw a wrench in those plans.
With its unique premise of turning a mess cook’s daily grind into a full-blown game quest, Military Cook Becomes a Legend will showcase cooking montages, food-fueled showdowns, and a level-1 rookie’s journey to becoming a culinary legend. The show will premiere on TVING in 2026.
