P NATION, the agency representing “Gangnam Style” singer Psy , has issued an official apology after reports surfaced that the star is under police investigation for how he obtained his prescribed sleeping pills.

The controversy began when news broke that Psy was booked by police on suspicion of violating the Medical Service Act. He is accused of having his manager collect prescriptions for psychotropic drugs, including Stilnox (known as Ambien in the U.S.) and Xanax, from a Seoul university hospital without attending in-person consultations himself. Police reportedly raided the hospital recently to secure the relevant medical records.

In a statement on August 28th, P NATION acknowledged the error. “Having a third party receive a specialized pharmaceutical, a sleeping pill, on his behalf is a clear error and oversight. We sincerely apologize,” the agency said.

The statement also provided context for his medical needs, explaining, “Psy was diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder and has been taking sleeping pills according to a doctor’s prescription. He has always taken the medication under medical supervision, in the prescribed doses, and the prescription was legally issued in his own name.”

P NATION confirmed, “There were instances where a third party received the sleeping pills on his behalf, and a police investigation is currently underway.”
