According to TMZ and NBC, Los Angeles authorities confirmed on September 9th (local time) that a heavily decomposed body was found inside a bag in the trunk of a Tesla held at an impound lot. Police had responded to reports of a foul odor before uncovering the remains. The car was identified as belonging to David Anthony Burke—better known as D4vd.

A spokesperson for the artist told NBC that while D4vd is currently on his world tour, his team is aware of the situation and is fully cooperating with authorities.

The news comes just months after the rising star strengthened his ties with Korean fans. D4vd first visited Korea in late 2024, returning in May 2025 for performances and content filming. He appeared on M!Countdown , held impromptu busking events in Seoul, and even met with several K-pop idols. During this time, he also drew attention for his collaboration with Stray Kids’ Hyunjin, who features on a track from his debut album. Other collaborators include Hannah Bahng, Keshi, and Julia Wolf.

With his name already cemented on Billboard’s “21 Under 21” list and Variety’s “Young Hollywood Impact Report,” the singer has been considered one of the most promising Gen-Z voices in music. Now, as the case unfolds, fans around the world—including many in Korea—are reacting with shock and concern, anxiously waiting for answers.
