Son Heung Min has submitted a written statement to police in connection with an ongoing blackmail case involving a woman identified as Yang.
According to MBC on May 21st, Son submitted the statement to Gangnam Police Station last week as part of the investigation. In it, he confirmed that he arrived in Korea on May 23rd last year to prepare for the second round of the North and Central America World Cup qualifiers, and that he met Yang between May 31st and June 1st.
He acknowledged seeing her up until June 2nd, the day before he left for an away match in Singapore.
Son’s side claims that about a month later, Yang told him she was pregnant. He allegedly suggested meeting in person to talk, but her side demanded money instead and refused the meeting.
Reports say that police currently have no plans to summon Son for in-person questioning, given the details provided in the written statement.
