Song Joong Ki has shared an unexpected story from his college days.
The actor appeared as a guest alongside his My Youth co-star Chun Woo Hee on the September 10th episode of YouTube channel “Naraesik,” hosted by comedian Park Na Rae. Looking back on his youth, Song said, “I was a complete model student—honestly, a boring one.”
When Park teased that girls from nearby schools would come just to see him, he laughed, “My friends told me that later, but at the time I didn’t realize it. I was really just a dull student focused on studying.”
He went on to reveal how college changed things. “Maybe because I had such a boring school life, I went off track as soon as I entered university. I pushed classes and studying aside. I got tired, lost energy, and even ended up getting an academic warning,” he confessed. “But that’s when I first felt, ‘I want to live doing what I actually want.’ That’s what led me to pursue acting.”
Now in a different chapter of life, Song reflected on being both a husband and a father. “People say youth has already passed for me, but I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy as I am now,” he said. “Having a family gave me responsibility, and also the inner strength to handle it. The fact that I get to be responsible for someone gave me more motivation to keep on living.”
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University. In 2023, he married British actress Katy Louise Saunders, and together they are raising a son and a daughter.
