Disney Plus has unveiled the teaser poster and trailer for its upcoming original series Tempest —and with it, a glimpse into a high-stakes political thriller anchored by Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won ’s powerful chemistry.
In Tempest , Jun Ji Hyun plays Moon Ju, a celebrated UN ambassador suddenly thrust into a web of danger as she investigates the shocking assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Assigned to protect her is San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a mysterious black ops agent with no nationality—and possibly no past.
The teaser poster sets the tone with a dramatic beam of light cutting through the darkness as it falls on Moon Ju and San Ho. Is it the guiding light of the North Star—or a spotlight of chaos closing in? The tagline, “Through the storm, to where the light awaits,” captures the precarious bond forming between two people.
Fans are already buzzing about the pairing of Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won—two of Korea’s most iconic stars—teaming up in a spy-meets-melodrama genre with global appeal.

The trailer amps up the intrigue with cinematic visuals and international stakes. Set in Seoul, a peace-unification mass is shattered by gunfire. In that chilling moment, Moon Ju and San Ho meet for the first time. “This game is much bigger than you could imagine,” a voice warns, as a mysterious object rises from the ocean depths, hinting at an escalating global crisis.
Also featured is John Cho as U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, urgently declaring, “The storm is coming.” As Moon Ju decides to run for office in pursuit of the truth, and San Ho risks everything to protect her, a string of escalating terror events pushes them to their limits.
The teaser also includes a stirring voiceover from Jun Ji Hyun: “Who are you? Why did you come to me?”—hinting at the emotional tension brewing between the leads. A quiet moment at a bus stop between Moon Ju and San Ho leaves viewers wondering just how deep their relationship will go.
The cast is further bolstered by heavy-hitters Lee Mi Sook, Park Hae Joon, Kim Hae Sook, Yoo Jae Myung, and Oh Jung Se, all bringing weight and presence to an already stacked lineup.
Tempest premieres on Disney Plus, launching with three episodes on Wednesday, September 10th, followed by two new episodes each Wednesday for a total of nine episodes.
