Japanese model and actress Harin has revealed that she almost debuted under HYBE’s label, Source Music, before she was abruptly asked to leave the group at the last minute.
Appearing on a new YouTube show hosted by Japanese actor Hiromitsu Takeda, Harin opened up about her past as an idol trainee and the heartbreaking story of her near-debut. She shared that her dream was crushed after a sudden company decision, right when she believed her future was set. Though she didn’t specify the idol group’s name, fans are speculating that she could have been part of NewJeans , given her time under Source Music and the timeline of events.
Harin shared the emotional journey of her trainee years, stating, “For two years, I practiced relentlessly from morning till night, barely sleeping.” The situation seemed so certain that her parents were already en route to Korea to sign the official contract.
But then, everything changed. “One day, they suddenly informed me they wanted to terminate my contract,” she recalled. “I was the only one from the lineup told to leave.”
The decision left Harin devastated. She was sent home immediately, with no chance to say goodbye to her friends and fellow trainees. “It was incredibly difficult,” she said. “I had worked so hard, and I was so close. I couldn’t understand why I was being dropped at that point.”
Despite the heartbreak, Harin now sees that experience as a turning point in her life. “Looking back now, I believe having that experience is why I am who I am today,” she reflected. “It motivated me to work even harder.”
Harin, born in 2003, began her career in the Japanese idol group Shibu3 Project before passing an audition for Source Music in 2020. She was later transferred to the ADOR label, which is also part of HYBE. Though she didn’t debut with the group she was originally lined up for, she has since found success as a model and actress in South Korea.
