Yoona has another hit on her hands. The Girls’ Generation member is earning rave reviews for her role in the new tvN drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty , where she plays a top French chef who travels back in time to the Joseon era.
The drama premiered to record-breaking numbers, achieving the highest debut viewership rating of any tvN Saturday-Sunday drama this year. Its success isn’t limited to Korea; according to global streaming tracker FlixPatrol, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has skyrocketed to No. 1 on Netflix in 42 countries and ranked in the Top 10 in 93 regions worldwide.

Yoona has been praised for her meticulous preparation, which included taking cooking classes and training with professional chefs long before filming began. Her dedication was evident in the premiere episode, where she impressed viewers by flawlessly delivering extended lines in French during a cooking competition scene.
The show’s director, Jang Tae Yu, praised her performance at the press conference, saying, “This wasn’t a role just any actor could take on. It required both experience in historical dramas and the convincing presence of a real chef. I wished for a star like Yoona, and as if by fate, she joined the project and prepared so diligently. It was astonishing how much she did on her own.”
Park Guk Jae, the author of the original web novel, also showed his support on social media, writing, “I absolutely cannot think of anyone more suitable for the role of Yeon Ji Young than Yoona,” praising how perfectly she embodied the character.
