Yang further explained, “This lawsuit has been filed after careful consideration, driven by Yulhee’s strong desire to reunite with her children and raise them again.” She added, “We will also be filing a request for a temporary custody arrangement and an advance child support order to facilitate Yulhee’s prompt reunification with her children.”
On Thursday, Yang revealed that Yulhee’s agency had contracted her to inquire about possibly altering custody arrangements. “I advised them that while there may be a chance for a change in custody based on the circumstances, there’s no certainty that it will succeed. However, I encouraged them to pursue the lawsuit, as it could be beneficial in the long run,” Yang explained.
Despite the divorce, Yang also emphasized Yulee’s ongoing involvement with her children. “Even after the divorce, Yulhee has remained actively engaged in visitation and has continued to participate in raising the children. Given her consistent involvement, we could almost consider her the de facto custodial parent,” she stated.
On October 24, Yulhee revealed on her personal channel that her ex-husband, Choi Min Hwan of FT Island, had been frequenting adult entertainment venues, sparking a public scandal. The controversy led Choi to step down from his role on the popular variety show The Return of Superman , which he had been filming with their children, and to suspend all activities with FT Island.
As a result of the allegations, the police have launched an investigation into Choi, who is currently facing charges under the Prostitution Punishment Act and the Sexual Assault Crimes Punishment Act (related to forced molestation involving family members).
Yulhee and Choi Min Hwan, who married in 2018, finalized their divorce in December 2023. Despite the divorce, Choi currently holds full custody of their three children.
